Job Summary
Salisbury Hospital NHS Foundation Trust offers a maternity leave opportunity within the Pharmacy Digital Care Team. This senior level role is for a forward‑thinking professional passionate about digital innovation and medicines optimisation. As Pharmacy Digital Technology Lead, you will lead the support, development and optimisation of the Trust’s Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) system, designing solutions that improve safety, quality and efficiency of pharmacy services.
We are looking for a digitally confident clinical pharmacist or experienced pharmacy technician with experience in electronic medicines management systems. You will join a collaborative digital pharmacy team and benefit from flexible hybrid working in line with service needs. Your interest in improving patient care and staff experience via digital systems is essential; ward‑based experience is desirable, but specialist e‑medicines expertise and a passion for service improvement are strongly encouraged.
The role includes a continued clinical commitment in the Pharmacy service.
As a member of the Pharmacy Senior Team you will work closely with the Chief Pharmacist and Principal EPMA Pharmacist, providing strategic leadership for the Trust’s digital medicines agenda and collaborating with multidisciplinary colleagues to support EPMA implementation and optimisation.
Main duties of the job- Act as lead administrator and professional lead for pharmacy digital systems, providing a key link between the Pharmacy Department, Trust Digital/IT teams, and clinical users.
- Ensure systems, including EPMA and pharmacy stock control, are configured, maintained and used safely and effectively in line with clinical and organisational requirements.
- Maintain expert knowledge of EPMA and lead system development, configuration, testing, validation, monitoring and optimisation, acting as a trusted advisor to support safe clinical use and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the Trust to ensure digital systems meet the needs of services, staff and patients, supporting changes to clinical workflows and embedding digital solutions into routine practice.
- Work closely with external suppliers and NHS digital leads, represent the Trust at regional and national user groups and contribute to professional networks.
- Over time develop subject‑matter expertise in additional pharmacy digital systems, including Careflow Medicines Management, dispensing robotics and automated medicines cabinets.
