Accounting Clerk II (Accounts Payable)
Part Time Permanent
Reporting to the Manager of Finance, this part‑time Accounting Clerk II (Accounts Payable) supports the City of Salmon Arm’s finance team by managing accounts payable administration, including invoice processing, payment execution, statement reconciliation, and vendor communications.
Responsibilities- Receiving, reviewing, coding, and processing vendor invoices, employee expense claims, cheque requisitions, and other accounts payable documents.
- Matching invoices to purchase orders, approvals, contracts, or supporting documentation and following up on discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Preparing and processing payments, including electronic funds transfers, cheques, and related payment documentation.
- Reconciling vendor statements, account balances, credit card transactions, and other financial records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Maintaining organized accounts payable records, vendor files, and supporting documentation in accordance with established procedures.
- Providing professional and courteous service to vendors, staff, and other departments while maintaining confidentiality and financial integrity.
- One (1) year post‑secondary education in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a recognized accounting designation or equivalent.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in accounts payable, accounting support, bookkeeping, or a related administrative finance role.
- Experience in a public sector environment considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when entering, reviewing, reconciling, and maintaining financial information.
- Proficiency with accounting software, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize work, communicate professionally, and handle confidential information with discretion.
Remuneration for this position is in accordance with the CUPE Local 1908 Collective Agreement, beginning at $32.42 per hour. The position qualifies for the City’s benefits program and Municipal Pension Plan (MPP). Successful candidates are required to join the union and pay union dues via payroll deduction.
