About the RoleThe Asphalt Plant Operator will be responsible for overseeing the production of asphalt, ensuring proper mixing, quality control, equipment monitoring, safety standards, and process adjustments to meet production goals and specifications.
Responsibilities- Offload hot asphalt oil
- Operate and run mixing operations on the asphalt plant and ensure material quality and compliance with specifications
- Ensure consistent production to meet daily orders
- Perform routine maintenance on heavy equipment and plants, and keep accurate and thorough records of plant performance and production
- Manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously, including scaling, ticketing, and assisting in asphalt orders
- Complete daily checklist, journal and reports
- Collaborate with plant operators, truckers, quality control and dispatch
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers by addressing issues, questions or concerns in a timely manner
- Contain all spills promptly and notify appropriate authorities immediately, adhering to established written procedures
- Promote a culture of safety and exhibit health, safety and environmental compliance in all work environments
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- At least 2 years of experience operating and running an asphalt plant, preferably with Astec equipment
- Knowledge of MS Office applications
- Previous experience with heavy machinery and equipment
- Effective communication skills in English and ability to work as a collaborative team player
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and priorities
- Strong safety mindset; capable of heavy lifting, bending and twisting as required
- Available for weekend work, night shifts and overtime, and able to work in various climate conditions
- Adherence to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize-approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including respirators (shaven face for fit tests)
- Hourly Wage Range: $29.15–$44.85 CAD
