Job Summary
The Department of Pathology seeks an accounting manager to ensure organizational adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other accounting standards, as well as the timely preparation and review of all required regulatory filings. Advises on annual budget and prepares accounting reports for executive leadership. Reviews work submitted by accountants, and manages accounting close processes. Performs analysis on financials and accounting metrics for presentation to leadership.
Responsible for hiring, firing, performance appraisals, and pay reviews. Broad knowledge of the field with proven leadership skills.
- Responsible for all debt, asset, and investment accounting functions.
- Assists in financial reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Oversees the work of capital equipment and property accounting.
- Assists in year-end close and annual financial audit.
- Assists the preparation of the annual department budget.
- Regularly reviews all responsible processes for improvement.
Equivalency statement: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience.
- Bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 8 years or Master’s (or equivalency) + 6 years of directly related work experience.
- Bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 10 years or Master’s (or equivalency) + 8 years of directly related work experience.
- Experience in property, debt, and endowment and investment accounting.
- Licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Candidates who are CPA‑eligible per Utah rules may also be considered.
- Understanding of Financial Accounting Standards Board or GASB rules and guidelines.
- Proven experience in process improvement and implementation.
