Description

Learn how to turn ideas into engaging communications and learning experiences that help employees succeed. As a Learning & Communication Intern at the Utah Transit Authority, you’ll gain hands‑on experience supporting leadership development programs, internal communications, employee learning, and program coordination. You’ll work with the Leadership Development team to create engaging content for Workvivo, coordinate learning sessions, communicate with participants, and help ensure programs run smoothly from planning through delivery.

This is a great opportunity for a student interested in learning and development, human resources, communication, marketing, or a related field to build practical skills and portfolio‑ready work in a large organization.

As the Learning & Communication Intern, you will:

  • Create, schedule, and maintain posts, announcements, and other internal communications on Workvivo, UTA’s internal communication platform.
  • Help develop engaging content that promotes leadership development programs, learning opportunities, and employee resources.
  • Respond to learner comments and questions and help facilitate communication with program participants.
  • Manage and coordinate Outlook calendars for development sessions, meetings, and related activities.
  • Prepare and send reminder emails, calendar invitations, and other participant communications.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support for Leadership Development learning sessions and programs.
  • Support class rosters, registrations, attendance tracking, and participant communications.
  • Prepare and organize course materials and handouts, including packets, name tags, sign‑in sheets, and other session materials.
  • Assist with learning session room setup, supplies, seating, audio/visual equipment, technology checks, and breakdown.
  • Provide day‑of support to help learning sessions run smoothly and create a positive participant experience.
  • Provide basic troubleshooting support for virtual and hybrid sessions, including Zoom and Microsoft Teams links, screen sharing, and other common technology issues.
  • Assist with general administrative and office support for the Leadership Development team.
  • Participate in team meetings, project discussions, and collaborative activities to support team effectiveness and communication.
  • Assist with other Leadership Development projects and responsibilities as needed.

What You’ll Gain:

  • Direct experience supporting learning and leadership development programs in a large organization.
  • Hands‑on experience with internal communications and employee engagement through Workvivo.
  • Experience coordinating learning sessions, including registration, participant communication, materials, technology, and logistics.
  • Writing and communication samples that can be used as portfolio‑ready examples of your work.
  • Opportunities to observe facilitation techniques, learner engagement strategies, and leadership development practices.
  • A better understanding of how employee development programs support organizational performance, culture, and employee growth.

This internship is part time and will be approximately 10–12 hours per week. Hours will be during daytime business hours, with flexible scheduling coordinated around the university semester.

This is expected to last 4 months but may be extended to a year (January 2027 to April 2027).

This is an in‑person position at UTA’s Frontline Headquarters (FLHQ) and cannot be conducted remotely. You will be expected to be in‑person for the full duration of the internship.
