Overview
:
Mortenson is currently seeking a Superintendent I who will coordinate, plan, and supervise assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities in a specific discipline area. The role focuses on developing enhanced customer relationships through excellent service while managing project schedules, safety, quality, and compliance.

• Plan and implement project schedules, ensuring that all materials, equipment, inspections, and personnel support the timeline.
• Review construction and contract documents for completeness and constructability.
• Coordinate plans and specifications with design engineers, resolving discrepancies.
• Develop and manage project schedules, including three‑ and six‑week look‑ahead plans.
• Create site logistics plans and lead the utilization of Mortenson tools and equipment.
• Collaborate with partner superintendents and project teams.
• Conduct on‑site orientations, pre‑construction planning sessions, and project site meetings.
• Supervise project partners, craft foremen, and crews; interview, hire, transfer, and dismiss craft team members as needed.
• Coach, mentor, and develop assistant superintendents and craft team members.
• Ensure proper task coding on timecards, track work progress, and maintain craft productivity.
• Provide training and facilitate career development discussions for craft team members.
• Build relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels, offering effective coaching and feedback.
• Manage safety, quality, risk, and compliance at high levels.
• Identify and mitigate unfavorable working conditions, continuously improving processes and procedures.

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of construction management or related experience.
• Current driver’s license.
• Ability to manage multiple, complex projects simultaneously.
• Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Basic understanding of construction law and business practices.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
• Positive, professional attitude with strong customer service skills.
• Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies.
• Excellent listening and communication skills, open to diverse input and feedback.
• Willingness to travel up to 100% of the time.

Base pay range: $111,400 MIN – $167,100 MAX. Actual range is higher for Denver, CO and Chicago, IL (5%), Seattle, WA, Portland, OR (10%), and Washington, D.C. (12.5%).

• Visa sponsorship is not offered for this position.
• Posts typically remain open a minimum of 5 days and an average of 44 days.
