Senior Estimator

Your Day to Day- Represent Jacobsen as a professional, competent estimator and meet potential clients.
- Prepare estimates for use in project bids and vendor/subcontractor selection.
- Lead hand‑off meetings to project management.
- Review and approve SWO and/or POs initiated by Lead Estimators.
- Track costs in Viewpoint to understand productivity and actual costs on similar type projects.
- Lead pre‑construction for design‑build projects, conceptual estimating, and work with the design team to manage budgets.
- Review progress documents and assess costs related to logistics (e.g., crane requirements, earthwork retention systems).
- Review soils report to assess recommendations and impacts on construction costs (e.g., dewatering, soil type and layback requirements, ground improvements).
- Participate in and assist with value engineering / cost‑saving measures.
- Prepare general conditions and review with Project Executive.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Build trusted relationships with coworkers, clients, sub‑contractors and suppliers that reflect Jacobsen’s vision, mission and formula for success.
- Perform thorough, detailed and accurate analysis.
- Prepare proposals and budgets based on minimal information, following established standards and required time frames and formats.
- Ensure project budgets are maintained by closely reviewing progress documents.
- Track costs in Viewpoint or other project budgeting systems.
- Communicate effectively in written and verbal communications to ensure understanding of estimates in the bid process, with project managers and vendors/sub‑contractors.
- Accept constructive criticism and handle high‑stress situations effectively.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction, Building Science or another equivalent program.
