Overview
The Salt Lake Tribune, in partnership with Utah Public Radio, is looking for a journalist to cover one of Utah’s most dynamic regions:
Cache Valley — home to 140,000 residents, Utah State University, booming businesses, and unparalleled outdoor access.
This is a unique opportunity to tell stories at the intersection of growth, culture, and community. From accountability reporting in local government to features on agriculture, aerospace, business, arts, environment, education, and healthcare — you’ll cover it all.
Your work will appear online at , in print, on Utah Public Radio, and potentially on NPR. You’ll gain experience in multimedia journalism, from breaking news and enterprise reporting to crafting engaging audio stories.
Location: Logan, Utah (based at UPR headquarters on the USU campus)

What We’re Looking For- Experience developing a beat and cultivating sources
- Strong track record of accountability reporting & breaking news
- Excellent writing, grammar, and AP style editing skills
- Ability to work under deadline pressure while balancing daily, enterprise, and investigative work
- Commitment to fairness, accuracy, and diversity in storytelling
- Professional social media presence
