The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Utah is seeking applicants for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor levels to join our established Lung Transplant program. This individual will participate in the Division’s clinical, educational and research programs. Primary duties will focus on the care of lung transplant patients, including initial evaluation, peri‑transplant care and post‑transplant care at the University of Utah Hospital and Clinics.

The position includes opportunities for educational activities with trainees (fellows, residents and medical students), and work on research and quality improvement projects. This individual will be expected to devote effort in programmatic development and outreach.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must possess a Medical Degree, be ABIM board certified, Board Eligible or Board Certified in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and must be eligible for a medical licensure in the state of Utah.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to individuals with transplant experience.

Successful candidates will be appointed at a faculty rank and salary appropriate for his/her qualifications.

The University of Utah Lung Transplant Program has been performing lung transplants for almost 30 years. The program has been experiencing remarkable growth over the past five years in terms of patients referred and recipients of lung transplantation. In 2025, our program performed 50 lung transplants and we anticipate further growth over the coming years. The program has a strong emphasis on quality improvement with multiple projects focused on reducing perioperative complications and extending the quantity and quality of life for our recipients.

Most recently, our program was highlighted in the IHI Lung Transplant Growth Collaborative sponsored by OPTN for our recent successes.
