Step up your career with DCFS by applying to become a Training Manager I! The Utah Division of Child & Family Services (DCFS) is seeking a highly motivated competent individual to fill their Training Manager I position for the State Office.
Starting pay: $31.80
This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, which includes both teleworking (3 days per week) and in-office work (2 days per week).The State of Utah requires all employees to physically work inside Utah state boundaries.
As a Training Manager I with the (DCFS) state office you will be actively engaged in curriculum design and delivery, the implementation of statewide training initiatives, the advancement of simulated training scenarios, as well as the continuous improvement of the DCFS Practice Model. You will participate on multiple teams which requires strong collaboration skills in tandem with conference planning skills. This position reports to the Training Coordinator for DCFS.
Responsibilities
As a Training Manager I in this position you will direct training operations for the Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) statewide, and be responsible for and influence DCFS statewide practice. You will actively participate in the support and advancement of training initiatives set forth by the DHHS or DCFS; participate in Training Managers meetings and Professional Development meetings; develop strategies for information and skill sustainability;
and function as part of a team, collaborating with various levels at the state and division levels, and with community partners for training projects specific to the state and to the division. You will be planning, researching, developing, teaching, training, presenting and organizing training operations, as well as:
- Defining operating objectives and training plans to meet short and long term goals.
- Developing training to be used by region trainers to train DCFS employees.
- Developing curriculum for DCFS Region Trainers to use for trainings statewide, to ensure trainings are delivered as written and intended.
- Designing and developing instructionally sound web-based and/or instructor-led training and materials needed for training.
- Working proactively with subject matter experts, public information officers, and additional stakeholders to develop interactive and engaging training.
- Working with surrounding universities and other states to develop DCFS statewide training.
Collaborating with other state level training teams and specialists; developing and tracking outcome measures to improve the DCFS state training system. - Uploading courses into a learning management system.
- Pulling reports and managing content in the learning management system.
- Delivering training in person and/or virtually.
- Overseeing the design and successful delivery of training courses, which may include outsourcing or the creation of curricula based on needs assessments (which may include the creation of materials and media).
- Performing needs assessments and project assessments in an effort to meet statewide training goals.
- Conducting training needs assessments and recommending training programs to the state and coordinate with the department.
- Performing needs assessments to ensure training is fulfilling agency needs, objectives, and relevant compliance standards, goals, measures.
- Coordinating learning processes.
- Creating a positive learning environment.
- Managing project schedules to ensure timely completion of all associated tasks.
- Mentoring employees on case work, A/V knowledge, and records maintenance.
Additional duties may include:
- Developing, allocating, administering, and tracking the division's training budget to include negotiations of contracts with vendors, trainers, consultants, and/or facilities.
- Develop and oversee contracts for logistical support with event sites ensuring conferences stay within budget.
- Writing, coordinating, and administering special training grants and projects.
- Performing full range of duties necessary to develop and produce video tapes, motion pictures, slide presentations, and/or other audio/visual materials for use by the state.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in conference planning
- Advanced computer skills in Google Workspace, Cornerstone learning management systems, Articulate 360 e-learning development tools, and Adobe Creative Suite
- Proficient with instructional design, adult learning theory, and competency-based learning
- Proficient in organizational assessment
- Foundational knowledge in statute, rule, policy, and guidelines specific to DCFS
Preference
Preference may be given to candidates who have:
4 or more years of professional work experience with DCFS, or similar organization
2 or more years of professional work experience developing and delivering DCFS specific, or similar social work related training
Certification as a CSFR + reviewer
Professional work experience in instructional design, adult learning theory, and/or…
