Position: Program Specialist I, Div. of Medical Education

Job Summary

This role provides comprehensive support for faculty development efforts across all phases of the medical education program under the guidance of the Associate Dean of Faculty Development for Education and the Division of Medical Education. This role supports faculty development initiatives by identifying needs, facilitating resources and programing, and maintaining an asynchronous platform for accessible training materials. Responsibilities include close collaboration and communication with other SFESOM staff and faculty to ensure success of faculty development related efforts.

This role also provides support for regional campus initiatives related to faculty development including communication, record of faculty activities, and may represent faculty needs at the Educational Program Planning Committee (EPPC). This role will lead coordination of the Faculty Educator Recognition Program and the Peer Evaluation and Enrichment Program (PEEP), promoting feedback and reflective practice among faculty, cross training and intermittent coverage for essential coordinator responsibilities in the Division of Medical Education will also be an expectation.

Responsibilities
  • Provide ongoing support for faculty development initiatives across all phases of the MD Program, identifying needs and facilitating appropriate resources or training.
  • Collaborate with staff and faculty leadership across all phases of the curriculum to assist with scheduling, logistics, and communication for key faculty development components for faculty groups (e.g. Learning Community Coaches, PBL, LIC) to ensure alignment and successful program outcomes.
  • Work closely with LIC coordinators, directors and clinical site leadership to align faculty development expectations and opportunities for community-based adjunct faculty.
  • Contribute to faculty development initiatives related to coaching and mentorship.
  • Event planning for faculty development efforts.
  • Collaborate on regional campus faculty development initiatives, helping to align local and institutional faculty development goals.
  • Maintain and update the asynchronous platform hosting faculty development materials, ensuring accessibility and relevance of content.
  • Assist with resource development and production as directed.
  • Oversee all outgoing communication related to faculty development, including event announcements, newsletters, and updates.
  • Represent faculty development needs at the Educational Program Planning Committee (EPPC), advocating for resources and support as directed.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of faculty development activities and accomplishments for all core educators.
  • Lead coordination of faculty programs overseen by the Division of Med Ed and/or the Associate Dean of Faculty Development, including the Peer Evaluation and Enrichment Program (PEEP) and the Faculty Educator Recognition Program.
  • Provide independent coordination and decision‑making for all activities of a specified program, acting as liaison between internal and external constituencies; refer problems outside policy and procedure guidelines to the manager.
Minimum Qualifications

EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
