Job Summary

Are you looking for a part‑time job? Are you looking to shape the nurses and doctors of the future? Are you an actor or want to be an actor? Simulation Participants or SP’s perform the role of the “patient” during health care simulations or clinical skills trainings for learners in the College of Nursing Simulation center. SP’s portray specific emotions, behaviors and disease symptoms while interacting with learners in the health care field during simulated patient encounters.

SP’s aid in establishing and maintaining fidelity and realism to each simulation. You may participate in video productions, support voice‑over for e‑learning courses, photographs and other teaching material as required. This is an ongoing job opening and we hire intermittently from this job posting.

Responsibilities
  • Arrive on‑time and fully prepared for all roles and shifts you accept.
  • Memorize a case script detailing specific emotions, behaviors, and disease signs/symptoms for presentation during simulated learning situations.
  • Present case information in a standardized manner, as elicited by students during simulated interactive patient history and/or medical examinations.
  • Remain in a specific patient character.
  • Embody roles with fidelity and realism.
  • Participate in group training.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information related to cases, student behaviors and feedback evaluations.
  • Provide educationally constructive verbal feedback from the patient standpoint when prompted by the facilitator.
  • Ability to be flexible in different medical and educational settings.
  • Perform additional job‑related duties as assigned.
Optional Qualifications

Formal training and/or certification in theatre, dramatic script, acting for film/TV and vocal performance or experience working in a variety of theatrical and multimedia settings is preferred but not required.
