Fox Hills Elementary First/Second Grade Split Elementary Teacher (External Applicants Only) One-Year-Only
Granite School District is seeking a qualified teacher for a one-year contract to serve a split elementary classroom (First/Second grade) in Fox Hills Elementary School. The position requires a Utah elementary teaching license or an equivalent out-of-state license, along with a demonstrated commitment to inclusive, research‑based instruction.
Training & Education- Requires a Utah State Board of Education ® approved cleared criminal background check.
- Requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Must hold a current Professional Utah Elementary teaching license or an out‑of‑state professional elementary license.
- New graduates who have not yet obtained a license must upload a conferral letter on official university letterhead that includes:
- The degree earned
- The anticipated graduation date
- The type of license and content area(s) in which the candidate will be recommended to the Utah State Board of Education
- Candidates must have officially graduated prior to the position start date; the official copy of the teaching license and degree will be required upon hire.
- ESL endorsement preferred.
Under the direction of the school principal, the classroom teacher will create a positive learning environment where students develop critical thinking, problem‑solving, lifelong learning, and citizenship skills. Teachers will maintain safety, establish rapport with students, parents, and colleagues, motivate learning, differentiate curriculum, and use effective, research‑based methods. Proficiency‑Based Grading will be implemented in student evaluations.
Essential Functions- Teach core content areas outlined in the USBE Core Curriculum and other approved learning activities.
- Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and provide individualized and small‑group instruction to meet student needs.
- Translate lesson plans into effective learning experiences that maximize instructional time.
- Use computers and other classroom technology to support instruction.
- Supervise students indoors and outdoors, including recess, gymnasium activities, and all weather/air quality conditions.
- Establish and maintain student behavior standards with organization and discipline strategies.
- Evaluate student growth, maintain records, and prepare progress reports.
- Implement Proficiency‑Based Learning and the Granite Way in evaluating students.
- Communicate with parents via conferences, calls, e‑mail, planners, and the school website to discuss student progress.
- Cooperate with other professional staff on student academic and personal growth.
- Maintain attendance, physical presence, and timeliness.
- Create attractive and functional displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
- Maintain a safe and supportive classroom and campus environment.
- Complete in‑service education and self‑selected professional growth activities.
- Participate in faculty meetings, evaluation procedures, student activities, and required testing procedures.
- Administer group standardized tests following state and district procedures.
- Select and requisition books and instructional materials; maintain inventory records.
- Model professional and ethical standards with students, parents, colleagues, and community members.
- Understand and adhere to laws, district policies, procedures, and Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission ethics.
- Serve as a positive role model.
- Other duties as assigned.
