Job SummaryThe Office of Admissions is seeking a student clerk to work in Graduate Admissions.
- The student clerk will assist with incoming calls, emails, and general questions pertaining to admissions.
- This employee will help maintain student records by running updates in student information systems, processing documentation, uploading test scores, and updating information in computerized student information systems.
- Employees in Undergraduate, Graduate, and International Admissions will be tasked with advising students on how to navigate through the admissions process, help students understand the application and required documentation and meet the appropriate deadlines.
- Performs detailed data entry tasks, including entering contact information of prospective students, processing transcripts submitted from high schools and universities, and adding standardized test scores to current student records.
- Maintains a working knowledge of admissions policy for their specific job area.
- Provide customer service support at our office windows and via phone calls as it relates to graduate admissions.
- Greets visitors at the front desk, and provides general information regarding Admissions or other areas related to academic services.
- Responds to emails regarding application materials.
- Performs general office duties as needed.
- May be required to cross‑train in other areas of Admissions to assist as needed.
- Answering phone calls and emails regarding residency.
- Assisting students and parents at the walk‑up window.
- Incumbents in this position work under close supervision, perform repetitive tasks and may be required to perform under strict deadlines.
- Other clerical and office duties as assigned.
Must be a current University of Utah student.
Preferences- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software systems.
- Strong problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to relay complex information to students, parents, and other campus partners.
- Strong professional writing ability.
- Ability to adapt to updated policies and processes.
- High attention to detail and ability to proofread and verify data.
