Job Summary

The PATHS program is a cohort-based pre-college program for high school students, especially those who are first‑generation or low‑income. Our goal is for students to achieve high school success and college readiness. Students participate year‑round from the summer before their freshmen year of high school until graduation. The program provides access to university resources and a learning community to prepare students to pursue higher education.

PATHS is looking for mentors to be experienced and trusted advisors who form supportive, coaching relationships and assist students in completing high school and applying for college. Mentors are expected to:

  • Create supportive and enriching experiences for students.
  • Help students manage academics and homework.
  • Guide students on time management and other study skills.
  • Share advice and knowledge about high school and college.
Responsibilities
  • Communicate with student cohorts weekly and keep up‑to‑date about student progress.
  • Work with fellow mentors to plan and supervise monthly Saturday engagement events (September – May)
  • Update student resource guides and occasionally give short presentations on various topics related to college readiness, life skills, self‑management, scholarships, and more.
  • Meet virtually with students to track student progress and data.
  • Attend mandatory weekly team meetings.
  • Conduct themselves professionally and be positive role models to students.
Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are required.

The incumbent will be required to pass a Bureau of Criminal Investigation ( BCI ) Background check
