Position Summary
Red Cat is seeking a First Person View (FPV) Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS) Flight Instructor to design and deliver training programs, conduct product demonstrations, and continuously improve training methodologies while adhering to strict safety protocols. The position requires a remote work structure with 65% travel.
- Operate FPV in the field ensuring all flight and ground operations follow established procedures; provide demonstrations and represent the company at trade shows.
- Deliver FPV training courses (theory and practical) covering aircraft building and configuration, flight controller programming and tuning, flight procedures, safety protocols, and equipment handling.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve the FPV training curriculum to ensure high standards of training delivery and operational excellence.
- Coordinate and actively participate in ground and flight operations: mission planning, execution, briefing, debriefing, aircrew resource management, and safety oversight.
- Prepare and brief Mission Packets, reviewing weather, NOTAMS, and conflicts, integrating sUAS operations within the local Airspace Control Plan (ACP).
- Observe all laws, regulations, and applicable obligations; work safely in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
- Ensure compliance with service guidance, company policy and procedures, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
- Current FAA Part 107 license.
- Associate’s degree in Aviation, Business, or related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Former Special Operations operator with 5+ years of experience in an elite military unit (Army Special Forces, Rangers, Air Force Special Tactics, Navy SEALs, Marine Reconnaissance).
- Minimum 5 years of experience operating, maintaining, and integrating sUAS in tactical, commercial, or research applications.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in sUAS flight training and instructing both novice and advanced operators in flight operations, mission planning, sensor integration, and emergency procedures.
- Minimum 3 years leading a team or section conducting special operations integrated with sUAS operations.
- Availability for overtime and willingness to work on short- and long-term projects away from home.
- Eligibility for a DoD Secret security clearance; US citizenship and current passport required.
- Walk, stand, and navigate large indoor/outdoor facilities for extended periods.
- Lift, carry, and move materials and equipment weighing up to 25 lbs regularly.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Possibility of climbing ladders, stooping, kneeling, or crouching during inspections and maintenance.
- Exposure to facility operations: noise, dust, temperature fluctuations, industrial equipment.
- Occasional off‑hours or weekend work for emergency responses or projects.
- Frequent use of a computer and other standard office equipment for documentation and coordination.
This position requires successfully completing a post‑offer background check. Qualified candidates with a criminal history will be considered and are not automatically disqualified, consistent with federal and state law.
