Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems seeks an Air Vehicle System Test Engineer – Engineering Field Service Representative (FSR) to join our Test and Evaluation (T&E) organization. The role includes 6 + months of training on a domestic assignment in Pax River, MD and Rancho Bernardo, CA, followed by deployment to one of several international sites (Japan, Italy, United Arab Emirates, Guam) for a minimum of 24 months.

Travel: 100 % of the time

Responsibilities
  • Interface with NGC and customer flight engineers, aircraft maintenance technicians, US Navy service members, and subsystem SMEs to sustain operations.
  • Act as primary interface between maintenance, design, and flight test engineering.
  • Operate Vehicle and Payload Test Controller (VTC/PTC) during aircraft start‑up/shutdown, launch and recovery; conduct static ground tests and troubleshooting.
  • Provide inputs to update Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMS).
  • Review and provide input during engineering development; execute detailed test requirements, acceptance test procedures, and ground test plans.
  • Install, operate, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and modify equipment in accordance with IETMS and other engineering directives.
  • Perform organizational/depot‑level maintenance and technical support on equipment, integrated systems, subsystems, and software at customer or field locations.
  • Field integration, troubleshooting, and repair of air vehicle systems, including operations on a flight line or in a hangar.
  • Interpret and trace electrical and air vehicle schematics; perform electrical and RF troubleshooting using equipment such as multimeter, network/Spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, TDR, etc.
  • Review and analyze engineering schematics, supplier design data, support functional test requirements including acceptance, qualification, and system integration on the air vehicle.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in STEM, or equivalent; 8+ years of engineering experience (4+ with PhD, 6+ with MS).
  • Willingness to complete required training in Pax River, MD and Rancho Bernardo, CA.
  • Willingness to support international deployment (Japan, Italy, UAE, Guam) for 24 months.
  • Willingness to relocate to a core U.S. location if needed.
  • Ability to pass new‑hire physical as required.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance; ability to obtain Top‑Secret/SCI within reasonable time.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR).
  • Experience with aircraft ground test operations.
  • Readiness to travel worldwide for customer support and leadership trips.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and strong communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership communication skills, including briefing senior leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Support for extended assignment beyond initial 24 months.
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance or current enrollment in CE.
  • Unmanned Air Vehicle system test or maintenance experience (MQ‑4, Triton BETTIE).
  • Aircraft test or lab test experience.
  • Experience using equipment to test/troubleshoot aircraft systems.
  • Experience loading data and configuration files to aircraft assemblies.
Salary and Benefits

Salary Range: $ – $ (primary level). Salary determined by scope, responsibilities, experience and market.
