Job Title
EH&S Engineer
LocationSalt Lake City, UT
SalaryBase: $100,000 - $116,000 per year;
Additional: up to 10% annual bonus
We are seeking an experienced and hands‑on EH&S Engineer to join our team in Salt Lake City and support our manufacturing operations. This role will develop, implement, and monitor environmental and safety programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, contributing to an accident‑free and healthy workplace. The EH&S Engineer will work closely with the EH&S Manager and interact with all departments to promote a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities- Consult with departments on equipment design, fire prevention, and safety programs.
- Review plans and specifications for new machinery or equipment to ensure proper safety precautions.
- Conduct plant inspections of fire and safety equipment, machinery, and facilities to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
- Define requirements for safety clothing and devices and oversee installation of safety devices on machinery.
- Investigate industrial accidents, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Serve as an internal consultant on ergonomics, hazardous materials, industrial hygiene, fire safety, and chemical safety matters.
- Audit business units and interface with outside vendors, contractors, and engineers regarding workplace safety.
- Prior experience in EH&S within a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, OSHA standards, and industrial safety practices.
- Ability to read, research, and interpret safety guidelines, technical procedures, and regulatory documents.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
- Effective communication skills for training, presentations, and collaboration with management and employees.
- Emergency medical and Hazmat certifications desired.
- Knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), Machine Safety, Risk Assessments (JHA, JSA, RA), Electrical Safety, Confined Space, Emergency Preparedness, Ergonomics, PPE, Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT), Aerial Work Platforms (AWP), Hearing Conservation, Working at Heights, Incident Analysis.
- ISO 14001, ISO 45001 knowledge.
- Experience in food, paper mill, or automotive manufacturing environments.
