** Engineer IV – Development Review (may underfill)

* Job Description:
** As a registered professional engineer and a member of the Development Review team, reviews and manages development projects and engineering programs, and applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in a broad area of assignments. This is highly technical work requiring a broad background in civil engineering.
** About the Position:
** Development Review Engineer will review construction plans and documents submitted for review, including residential, commercial, institutional, industrial, and City projects. Position is responsible to ensure all federal, state, and city regulations are met for water, sewer, storm drain, and street lighting throughout Salt Lake City and the Department’s water service area. Position will require candidate to exhibit exceptional time management, organizational, and communication skills.
** About the Team:
** The Development Services Division consists of engineers, permit technicians, engineering technicians, and customer service staff. SLCDPU’s customer base includes contractors, plumbers, business owners, homeowners, and internal employees, including City Administration. The Division works closely with each other to ensure support of all positions and successful execution of City regulations.
** This position may be filled as a level IV, III, II or I depending on credentials. Early application is encouraged as the position will remain open until it is filled.
**** Position Salary Range:
*** Engineer I: $ 74,799.90 - $ 83,111
* Engineer II: $ 78,555.60 - $87,284
* Engineer III: $ 86660.10 - $96,289
* Engineer IV: $ 95552.10 - $106,169

** Engineer I
**** TYPICAL DUTIES**:
* Checks drawings, reviews minor designs.
* Assists with field inspections and may perform design work on projects under the guidance of a professional engineer.
* Assists with bidding procedure, including reviewing bid documents, meeting with various personnel and assisting with the assembling of documents.
* Performs standard calculations and related design work. May write minor technical specifications.
* Becomes familiar with procedural steps involved in engineering projects.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

* MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
*** Possession of a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering equivalent from a fully accredited college or university.
* Possession of an engineer in training certificate.
* Ability to work and relate well with subordinates, supervisors, co-workers and the general public under varying circumstances.
* Possession of a valid driver’s license or driving privilege card.
* Ability to utilize computers in engineering applications, present reports in written and oral form, and communicate effectively with co-workers, public and contractors.

* WORKING CONDITIONS:
*** Moderate physical activity. Required to push, pull or lift medium weights up to 50 pounds. Uncomfortable working positions such as stooping, crouching and bending.
May have a few disagreeable elements such as appearance of work place, poor ventilation or uneven temperature.
* Intermittent exposure to stress as a result of human behavior.
** CAREER LADDER:
*** After one year of successful performance, during which incumbent demonstrates ability to apply fundamental engineering principles, theories, concepts and practices to basic and routine engineering problems, he/she may be promoted to Engineer II.
