Renewable Entry‑Level Mechanical Engineer

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Renewable Entry‑Level Mechanical Engineer for our Salt Lake City, Utah office. Be involved in projects with our Renewables Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients’ objectives and solves their challenges.

• Under the guidance of multiple experienced engineers, the successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of renewable energy projects from generation source to the Point of Interconnection (POI).
• Responsibilities will range from preliminary solar/wind/BESS site design through the detailed design of low to extra‑high‑voltage renewable collector substations and gen‑tie transmission lines.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
• Involved in all aspects of transmission line design for new lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber‑optic additions.

• BSME (BS Mechanical Engineering), BSR (BS Renewable Energy Engineering), or related engineering degree from an accredited university preferably with a power option.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of mechanical engineering.
• Strong command of the English language; experience and demonstrated written and oral communications skills, including the ability to present information, facilitate meetings and provide direction to others.
• Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
• 0–1 years of experience.

• At least three months of relevant electrical engineering work experience (internship or co‑op).
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Preferably an engineering degree with a power option from an accredited university.
• Attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
• FE/EIT exam passed is strongly considered.
• Familiarity with design/drafting or engineering software such as MATHCAD, SOLIDWORKS, AUTOCAD, Inventor, etc., as well as Microsoft Excel.
