Process Controls Engineer III (PERM) at Reliable Controls Corporation – Salt Lake City, UT
Reliable Controls Corporation seeks an experienced Process Controls Engineer III to support controls engineering and commissioning projects at industrial facilities such as processing plants, gas compression facilities, and mining facilities.
Responsibilities- Design and review instrumentation and automation systems for heavy industry processing plants.
- Engineer and design network diagrams, loop diagrams, P& depictions, Controls Narrative, and Cause and Effect documents.
- Design process control systems and strategies.
- Design and implement process network infrastructure.
- Program and configure PLC/HMI/DCS/SCADA systems.
- Troubleshoot equipment and process controls.
- Provide hands‑on support for commissioning and start‑up activities.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 36 months of experience as a Process Controls Engineer or closely related occupation.
- Valid driver’s license or eligibility to obtain one within 30 days; acceptable driving record.
- Commitment to safety.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, troubleshoot, write PLC/DCS logic, and handle punch list management.
- Strong knowledge of process control loops, plant commissioning, mineral processing, oil & gas processes, material and energy balances, PLC/SIEMENS/ABB systems, and relevant codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, PSM, MSHA, IEC, ISA).
- Excellent communication skills, including technical writing, reporting, and presentations.
- Professional demeanor, self‑motivation, resilience to change, and ability to recognize the impact of decisions.
Travel
:
Up to 80% travel to remote domestic and international locations for on‑site project assignments.
