Sr. Transportation Engineer/Project Manager

WSP is seeking a Sr. Transportation Project Manager to join the Salt Lake City Transportation Team. Be involved in projects with our Civil Engineering Team and help meet client objectives and solve their challenges.

The Sr. Transportation Project Manager provides leadership within a sector of the organization to ensure civil engineering deliverables, technical quality, and project outcomes meet or exceed industry and company standards for design, safety, and functionality.

Your Impact
  • People & Performance Leadership:
    Contribute to management, growth and development of the Civil Engineering team; provide leadership with Local Business Leader and Senior Management Team; focus on KPIs; mentor staff to support growth and professional development.
  • Business Development:
    Support clients and the industry through innovative transportation projects; collaborate with local offices and national delivery experts; support transportation business development efforts, strategy development, client engagement and pursuits in Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico; represent the firm in pursuits and client events; engage with clients to develop new business leads and establish strategic alliances.
  • Project/Program Management:
    Lead delivery of transportation projects and project teams for agencies in the SW Mountain District; lead key projects as Project Manager or Sr Lead; participate in contract negotiations; oversee project financial performance, QA/QC, risk management; ensure high quality deliverables such as PS&E documents, reports and memorandums.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    Manage data collection and analysis for project development; apply civil engineering techniques to design and construction phases; review construction plans and cost estimates; oversee design and construction from inception to completion; mentor staff; stay current with industry techniques; collaborate with multidisciplinary teams; support marketing and proposals; represent WSP at industry events; adhere to WSP Code of Conduct.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of relevant post education experience in transportation engineering and civil design.
  • Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).
  • Strong proficiency with civil engineering principles, practices, design/build, and permitting.
  • Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and program/construction management across rehabilitation, reconstruction, new design and construction.
  • Knowledge of civil construction laws, codes, regulations, and record-keeping.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills; ability to interact with engineering and non-engineering audiences.
  • Ability to lead independently and guide mid- to senior-level teams with QA/QC.
  • Proficiency with design software (Micro Station, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads); data analysis and modeling tools.
  • Experience with evaluating permits, plans, and specifications; risk management and project controls.
  • Travel flexibility; occasional overnight travel as required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills; able to coordinate with clients, regulators, and project teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering.
