Overview
Telecommunications Engineering Technician role National Airspace Systems Integration Support (NISC) program at Leidos seeks a Telecommunications Engineering Technician to provide support to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Central Service Area - Engineering Services Group located across the United States. The ideal candidate will support the daily operations of the FAA’s Legacy Infrastructure to Future Technologies (LIFT) Portfolio and the goal of converting National Airspace Connectivity from TDM to IP.
The scope includes Telecommunications Infrastructure Replacement, Small Tower Voice Switches, Air to Ground Protocol Converters and NEXCOM Radios.
- Review FAA databases and provide input and/or draft Site Survey Reports (SSR).
- Conduct site surveys to provide input and/or draft Site Survey Reports.
- Coordinate schedules with SSC, ES, and Verizon personnel.
- Draft Project Risk Plans (PRP) and Operational Risk Management Plans (ORMP).
- Generate and/or update drawings, sketches, and artifacts.
- Draft project plans for site preparation activities.
- Coordinate scheduled outages with SSC, Air Traffic and Operations personnel.
- Develop transition plans.
- Resolve schedule conflicts.
- Accompany unbadged personnel at facilities.
- Work with Local Exchange Carriers (LECs) on schedules.
- Develop briefings/information/reports on District status.
- Work with other Districts/SSC on interstate service flows, transitions, cutovers, planning, etc.
- Support District Point of Contact (POC) and SSCs with day-to-day activities.
- Review and provide comments on Verizon Site Specific Implementation Plans (SSIP).
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering and 2+ years of relevant experience OR a Master’s degree. Additional experience may be substituted for degree.
- Ability to travel up to 75%.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance Suitability (U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident/Green Card holder who has resided in the U.S.A for the past 3 years).
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- 2+ years of experience working with Telco systems performing Network Troubleshooting.
- Proficient with AutoCAD or similar tools.
- Knowledge of NEC, NFPA standards, and NAS facilities such as ASR, ATCT, VOR, ARSR, RCAG.
- Knowledge of OSHA and general construction and electrical safety standards.

Pay Range: $57,850.00 - $. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
