Engineering Lab Technician at L3
Harris Technologies – Salt Lake City, Utah – 9/80 1st Shift (9 out of 14 days, 80 hours total, every other Friday off)
We are seeking an experienced engineering lab technician to support programs and teams in designing, conducting, and troubleshooting experiments and hardware components. The role ensures the smooth operation of our engineering lab, contributing to the on-time delivery of hardware products and software services.
Essential Functions- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot lab equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Assist engineers in designing and conducting experiments, including setting up equipment and preparing materials.
- Accurately record and analyze experimental data, ensuring thorough documentation of results.
- Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Provide technical support to engineering teams and assist in the development of prototypes and testing procedures.
- Prepare reports on results and findings, summarizing experimental results and recommending improvements.
- Work closely with engineers and other technicians to support ongoing projects and initiatives.
- High School Diploma or equivalent, or Associates Degree with minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum 8 years of prior relevant experience, or 2 years post-secondary with minimum 4 years of related experience.
- Proficient in lab equipment electronics – oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, BERTS, signal generators, RS-232/485 communications.
- Familiar with L3
Harris processes and tools – SAP, Teamcenter, SAPME. - LRU and CCA troubleshooting skills.
- Computer hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
- VMware and vSphere knowledge are a plus.
- Networking experience and knowledge of protocols are a plus.
- Knowledge of servers, multiplexers, routers, switches, and COMSEC devices is a plus.
- Satellite communication experience is a plus.
- IT Information Assurance is a plus.
- Previous experience in a laboratory or engineering environment.
- Proficient in MS Windows applications, networking equipment, and lab software; familiarity with engineering drawings is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail and the ability to evaluate complex technical information and make informed decisions.
- Works collaboratively in a team setting and can work independently when needed.
- Understanding laboratory safety practices and protocols.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Current security clearance preferred.
