Telecommunications Engineering Technician

Leidos National Airspace Systems Integration Support (NISC) program is seeking a Telecommunications Engineering Technician to provide support to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Central Service Area – Engineering Services Group across the United States.

• Review FAA databases and provide input or draft Site Survey Reports (SSR).
• Conduct site surveys to provide input and/or draft Site Survey Reports.
• Coordinate schedules with SSC, ES, and Verizon personnel.
• Draft Project Risk Plans (PRP) and Operational Risk Management Plans (ORMP).
• Generate and/or update drawings, sketches, and artifacts.
• Draft project plans for site preparation activities.
• Coordinate scheduled outages with SSC, Air Traffic and Operations personnel.
• Develop transition plans.
• Resolve schedule conflicts.
• Accompany unbadged personnel at facilities.
• Work with LECs on schedules.
• Develop briefings/information/reports on District status.
• Work with other Districts/SSC on interstate service flows, transitions, cutovers, planning, etc.
• Support District POC and SSCs with day‑to‑day work activities.
• Review and provide comments on Verizon Site Specific Implementation Plans (SSIP).

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering and 2+ years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree (additional experience may be substituted/considered/accepted in lieu of degree).
• Ability to travel up to 75%.
• Ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance Suitability (requires U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency with at least 3 continuous years of residence).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites.

• 2+ years of experience working with telecommunications systems performing network troubleshooting.
• Proficient working with AutoCAD or similar tools.
• Knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC), NFPA standards, and National Airspace System equipment towers.
• Knowledge of OSHA and general construction and electrical safety standards.
• Knowledge of NAS facilities such as ASR, ATCT, VOR, ARSR, RCAG.
