Job SummaryThe Project Scheduler develops, maintains, and analyzes integrated project schedules for large-scale capital projects from front-end loading (FEL) through construction, commissioning, and startup. The role also supports enterprise-level scheduling, rolling project schedules up into a portfolio view so leadership can manage critical path, resource demand, contractor performance, and funding and milestone commitments across the full capital program. The Project Scheduler will also manage and update the internal Research & Development (R&D) project schedule, tracking critical interdependencies between R&D scope and project execution.
EssentialFunctions & Responsibilities
- Build and maintain resource- and cost-loaded Level 1-4 schedules in Microsoft Project or Primavera P6, aligned to the work breakdown structure (WBS) and stage-gate deliverables
- Support the enterprise scheduling environment, including the enterprise project structure (EPS), standardized calendars, codes, and global resource pools, so project schedules roll up consistently
- Develop and maintain program- and portfolio-level integrated master schedules (IMS) and Level 1 summary schedules for executive and investment committee reporting
- Analyze cross-project dependencies, shared resources, and long-lead procurement across the portfolio, and support capacity planning and prioritization
- Integrate and review EPC/EPCM contractor schedules, validating logic, durations, float, and critical path
- Produce monthly and weekly schedule updates, including progress measurement, variance analysis, and forecast completion dates
- Perform schedule risk analysis (e.g., Monte Carlo) and support contingency and schedule-reserve development
- Run critical path, near-critical path, and what-if analyses, and recommend recovery or mitigation plans
- Evaluate contractor change orders and delay claims for schedule impact; support time-impact analysis
- Maintain baseline and re-baseline control, including revision history and change documentation
- Partner with cost control, procurement, engineering, and construction to maintain integrated cost/schedule reporting (earned value)
- Track long-lead procurement and permitting milestones, and report on external milestones tied to financing or government funding
- Prepare schedule deliverables that meet government and funding-agency reporting requirements
- Contribute to schedule standards, templates, and lessons learned
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 4-7 years of scheduling experience on capital projects in industrial, energy, chemical, or infrastructure settings.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Project or Primavera P6, including baselines, calendars, relationships, and resource loading.
- Working knowledge of enterprise scheduling concepts: multi-project environments, EPS/OBS structures, portfolio roll-ups, and cross-project resource management.
- Working knowledge of CPM scheduling, earned value management, and progress measurement.
- Experience reviewing contractor schedules on EPC or EPCM execution.
- Strong Excel skills and the ability to communicate schedule drivers clearly to non-specialists.
- Experience with enterprise scheduling platforms (P6 EPPM, Primavera Cloud, or similar) and portfolio reporting.
- Experience on government projects (e.g., DOE, DoD, or other federal or state-funded programs), including familiarity with IMS deliverables, EVMS (ANSI/EIA-748), and schedule quality assessments such as the DCMA 14-point check
- PSP (AACE) or PMI-SP certification, or in progress.
- Experience with schedule risk tools (Oracle Primavera Risk Analysis, Acumen, or similar).
- Experience with projects in synthetic and renewable fuels, power generation, oil & gas, process facilities, or defense-adjacent infrastructure.
- Exposure to stage-gate/FEL frameworks and projects with grant, loan, or government-funded…
