Accounting Manager

Description We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee financial operations for a non-profit organization in Salt Lake City, Utah. This Contract to permanent position offers the opportunity to lead critical accounting functions, including month-end closings, reconciliations, and financial reporting. If you have a strong background in managing general ledger activities and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, this role could be an excellent fit.

Responsibilities:

- Lead month-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting.

- Oversee general ledger activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.

- Prepare and review financial statements and balance sheet reconciliations.

- Utilize advanced Excel functions such as pivot tables and data analysis to support financial modeling and reporting.

- Manage payroll processes using Paylocity for a small team, ensuring compliance and efficiency.

- Ensure adherence to nonprofit accounting standards and compliance requirements.

- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support grant reporting activities.

- Supervise accounts receivable and payable processes, maintaining accuracy and efficiency.

- Drive improvements in financial operations and reporting systems.

- Support audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.

- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.

- Nonprofit experience is highly preferred.

- Proficiency in Paylocity and payroll management for small teams.

- Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling and data analysis.

- Strong understanding of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and month-end close procedures.

- Familiarity with nonprofit accounting standards and compliance requirements.

- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with a detail-oriented approach.
