Operations - Tax Withholding - Analyst

Work Location: Salt Lake City, UT

Contract Duration: 6 months

Working Hours: 8 am start Monday-Friday. Right now, we want a typical 10 hour day. We might be able to be flexible on this if we find a good candidate, but we will start with our normal 10 hour day.

Operations individuals are critical thinkers who partner with groups across the firm to ensure accurate tax withholding and reporting for the firm and our clients. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse team in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment. You will assist in creating and supporting scalable processes to support the firm's global business segments in Global Banking & Markets, Asset & Wealth Management, and Platform Solutions.

You will gain extensive exposure and knowledge of US regulations around Backup Withholding, Chapter 3 Withholding, and Chapter 4 Withholding.

Tax Operations is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the firm's compliance with reporting authorities around the globe and managing related inquiries from a variety of the firm's business segments across Global Banking & Markets, Asset & Wealth Management, and Platform Solutions. Day-to-day team functions include accurate and timely account documentation and monitoring; withholding; client information reporting; reviewing and responding to client inquiries around unique tax situations related to corporate actions, Section 302, Section 305(c), and Section 1446(f);

and regulatory filings.

• Daily reconciliations of withholding tax data
• Supporting US and State withholding tax payments and regulatory filings
• Ensure data accuracy and integrity of regulatory tax filings
• Reviewing and responding to client withholding tax inquiries with accurate analysis based on the facts and circumstances of the inquiry
• Providing tax-related operational support to the firm's Investment Professionals;
  Client Service reps, and clients
• Reviewing and responding to inquiries from Tax Authorities and Regulators
• Reviewing and solving breaks and exceptions arising from withholding processes

• Bachelor's Degree (Required)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to understand complex workflows
• Results orientated with the ability to balance time-sensitive projects while maintaining a long-term, strategic focus
• Excellent communication skills with an ability to influence senior business stakeholders and make decisions
• Strong attention to detail
• Proactive and self-starting individual with high level of ownership
• Questioning mindset with an ability to recognize potential risk and flag to managers

• Intermediate/advanced Excel skills essential

• Accounting, auditing, or reconciliations background is preferred, with an understanding of debits and credits
• Understanding of NRA, FATCA, and Backup withholding rules
• Prior exposure to IRS Forms 945, 1042, 1099, and 1042-S
• SQL and Alteryx skills
