Entry Level Firefighter - August 2026 Academy (Recruit Class 58)
Summary: We are looking for entry level firefighters to join the Salt Lake City team.
Salary Range: $61,349 to $87,565 annually.
About The Position: Salt Lake City Firefighters perform fire suppression, rescue, and property conservation activities. They act as first responders and provide basic life support and emergency care. This position also includes fire prevention activities, inspections, code enforcement, public education, and participation in drills.
About The Team: The Salt Lake City Fire Department has over 350 members serving 200,000 residents, with a business and tourism population that nearly doubles this number in the city’s 110 square miles.
Work Schedule: Operates on a three‑platoon system with 48‑hour consecutive shifts and 96‑hour off periods.

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must be 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, possess a valid driver’s license, and be eligible to work in the U.S. before the written exam.

Testing Process:
- National Testing Network (NTN) FireTEAM Written Exam – 30%
- National Testing Network Online Video Recorded Interview – 70%
- In‑Person Field Day Skills Assessment
- Task Performance Assessment for Candidates (TPAC) – Pass/Fail
Method Of Scoring And Ranking: Final score from weighted portions; preference points added for NREMT/Utah Paramedic (1%), Veteran (5%), Disabled Veteran (10%).
