Job Summary
This training program is led by Dr. Jennie Hill, with opportunities for collaboration with other University of Utah faculty and external collaborators. The postdoctoral fellow will contribute to the successful execution of pragmatic and implementation trials focused on the national scale-up of evidence-based programs, policies, or practices. Dr. Hill’s funded studies are hybrid effectiveness implementation trials focused on increasing the uptake and reach of evidence-based programs that support healthy eating, physical activity, and weight management in children and families.
This includes intensive lifestyle behavioral treatment programs and public health prevention efforts (i.e., policy and nutrition assistance programs).

- A PhD in public health, implementation science, behavioral science, or other relevant health or social science-related discipline (i.e., nutrition, health & kinesiology, psychology) is required to start the fellowship.
- Strong preference for previous training and experience in community‑engaged research and/or dissemination and implementation science; however, those with excellent skills may undergo training in those content areas as part of this fellowship.

- Support the execution of federally funded trials, including supporting the PI and investigative team in the development and execution of data collection protocols, implementation facilitation support, data analysis, and writing.
- Attend project team meetings, oversee clinical trials and evaluation activities, participate in meetings with enrolled sites, and support the investigators in a range of activities as assigned.
- Foster a collaborative and productive relationship with other project staff (i.e., coordinators, research assistants, and community-based team members).
- Contribute to peer‑reviewed manuscripts and new grant proposals.
The successful fellow will be housed within the Department of Population Health Sciences, within the School of Medicine. This training opportunity is designed to develop fellows into independent academic research careers. The successful candidate will join an established research team with a portfolio of federally funded research. They will join an active and engaged cadre of peer scholars, including an organized and robust post‑doctoral fellow support and training approach across PHS.
Scholars will have publication and grant‑writing opportunities and will share in authorship and investigator status in a manner commensurate with their effort and responsibilities. For interested candidates, there are outstanding opportunities for further development in research methodology and statistical expertise via workshops, courses, and with our collaborators across campus. The mentoring team has an exceptional track record of helping scholars obtain independent funding as principal investigators of NIH funded K, F, and R01 awards.
