This position performs radiographic procedures, may access and administer medications within scope, and provides direct patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform radiographic procedures and critique images to ensure high quality.
- Apply radiation safety principles during image acquisition.
- Coordinate imaging support in the operating room, patient care units, and clinics.
- Assess patient vital signs and conditions during procedures.
- Report equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
- Assist in orienting, training, and mentoring new employees or students on department workflow, policies, and procedures.
- Prepare, clean, and stock rooms with supplies and linens.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency with department exam protocols and procedures.
- Demonstrated proficiency with all imaging acquisition devices.
- Effective communication with patients, visitors, staff, and providers.
- Ability to select proper radiograph exposure factors and adjust when necessary for image quality.
- Prioritize patient workload and be flexible to meet patient needs.
- Proficiency in all radiographic positioning and procedures.
- Ability to obtain imaging on patients of varying ages and abilities.
Licenses and Credentials Required
- Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system (obtained within 30 days of hire).
- Current licensure to practice as a Radiologic Technologist in the State of Utah.
- ARRT Registration as a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
- Intensive work may exert up to 100 pounds and consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or moving objects, such as medical equipment or patients.
- Must be able to perform these tasks with or without an accommodation.
