• Coordinating and prioritizing ordered exams.
• Collaborating and coordinating with medical staff including physicians, APCs, medical fellows, residents and other personnel.
• Collecting medical information and patient histories.
• Performing cardiac ultrasound exams in accordance with department and accrediting body protocols.
• Participating in training of echo cardiographic techniques and procedures.
• Cleaning and disinfecting transesophageal probes and other equipment and decontaminating the exam area.
• Performing quantitative measurements and calculations of acquired data and providing preliminary reports.
• Maintaining logs of patient data and filing reports.
• Ordering and restocking supplies.

• Demonstrated potential to perform the essential functions of the job.
• Ability to provide care to the population served.
• Knowledge of the principles of lifespan growth and development.
• Ability to assess data regarding the patient's status.
• Ability to provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
• Knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology.
• Effective communication and human‑relation skills.

• Proficiency on all equipment in the lab, including GE and Philips ultrasound machines.
• Proficiency in TTE 2D, 3D and Strain.
• Successful completion of presentation(s) at Lunch and Learn meetings.

• Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system (to be obtained within 30 days of hire).
• One of the following:
  • Current certification as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer with an Adult Echocardiography (RDCS‑AE) specialty through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Current certification as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International.

Rotation of weekend call every 6‑8 weeks.

• This position involves intensive work that may exert up to 100 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects such as medical equipment or patients while providing medical care.
• Workers may be exposed to infectious diseases and may be required to function around prisoners and behavioral health patients.

• Carrying, climbing, color determination, crawling, lifting, listening, manual dexterity, near vision, pulling and/or pushing, reaching, sitting, speaking, standing, stooping, coughing, tasting or smelling, walking.
