The Physical or Occupational Staff Therapist Position provides evaluation and therapy services, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transition or care, in an efficient, age‑appropriate, and culturally sensitive manner upon licensed independent practitioner referral. It provides comprehensive compliant and safe clinical care demonstrating the philosophy of family‑centered care, a commitment to the achievement of optimal patient outcomes in alignment with the standards of practice of the professional organization.

In cooperation with other local leaders, it offers exceptional care following the Shriners Children's FOCUSED Program, a system‑wide model for professional practice that stresses patient‑centered care and always puts the needs of the patients (and their families) first. Shriners Children's Salt Lake City is looking for a Physical Therapist to join our amazing team!

Schedule:

Full time, 1.0 FTE

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates competency in the examination of the patient to include history and systems review, selection and administration of specific tests and measures to obtain clinical data
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and advanced skills to design and implement a comprehensive treatment plan, utilizing evidence base practice, for patients of diverse ages and diagnoses based on their assessment
  • Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge/skills necessary to fabricate orthotic devices as indicated by the treatment plan
  • Utilizes language appropriate to patient/family level of understanding, and written or demonstrated methods for exercises/activities, splints and equipment use
  • Records clinical activity as close as possible to the time care was delivered, only uses abbreviations approved by the facility, is objective and factual using quantitative metrics, and is HIPAA compliant
  • Participates in program development and departmental responsibilities as assigned while demonstrating adherence to deadlines
  • Responsible for maintaining current knowledge in changes related to scope of practice, coding/billing practices, compliant documentation and any other knowledge related to compliant practice in a revenue cycle environment

Required Qualifications
  • Education necessary to obtain License in State of Practice
  • Licensed in state of practice
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 year Physical Therapy
  • 1 year of PT or OT practice experience
  • AOTA fieldwork educator certificate, APTA credentialed clinical instructor, or ASHA clinical fellowship mentor
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities in working with children at various levels of care
  • Ability to work independently, work within a multidisciplinary treatment team, and collaborate and/or coordinate services with team members
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills. Ability to interact effectively and sensitively with children and families of different developmental levels and cultural backgrounds
