Responsibilities- The ability to create, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot virtual machines, preferably using Microsoft Hyper‑V.
- Know how to manage, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Microsoft Failover Clusters.
- Know how to support a variety of mass storage arrays and RAID configurations.
- Know how to use Microsoft Power Shell to automate tedious, repetitive, and/or error‑prone tasks related to installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and management of IT systems and services.
- Know how to install a server into a rack, load and configure a Windows Operating System on it.
- Know how to Preboot Execution Environment (PXE) boot a server and load an image onto it with Windows Deployment Server.
- Know how to replace/install RAM, hard drives, network cards, and storage cards in a computer/server.
- Know how to troubleshoot basic network troubleshooting, such as IP conflicts, DNS resolution problems, being able to determine the status of a switch port.
- Be able to evaluate effectiveness of existing technologies on site and consider emerging technologies.
- Add, configure, and manage Roles and Features on Microsoft Server (current version) including but not limited to:
File and Storage Services, Print and Document Services, Remote Desktop Services. - Know how to troubleshoot Windows Server Update Services issues, to include how to use the SFC and DISM programs.
- Manage tape backup server, tape backup library, and tape workstations used to archive user data and perform system backups; refill the inventory of blank tapes; manage other than normal operations; identify/correct unexpected situations (e.g., Arcserve backup and replication, etc.).
- Configure and monitor systems/servers utilizing Windows Admin Center; use a variety of Remote Server Administrative Tools (RSAT), such as Active Directory Users and Computers, Remote Desktop Hyper‑V Manager, Failover Cluster Manager, Windows Deployment Services.
- This contract requires undergoing polygraph examinations after onboarding.
- Configure and monitor SQL servers utilizing SQL Server Management Tools.
- Recognize failed hardware such as hard drives, power supplies, components, or entire servers.
- Follow detailed instructions to identify, troubleshoot, and replace faulty equipment.
