MariaDB is a leading database platform used by 75% of the Fortune 500. This role is a Site Reliability Engineer for MariaDB Cloud, a fully managed Kubernetes-based database platform. You will deploy, operate, and ensure production reliability for the platform in U.S. government cloud regions (AWS Gov Cloud and Google Cloud), serving as the engineering voice on the ground while feeding operational insights back to the global platform engineering team.
WhatYou'll Do
- Deploy and operate Kubernetes-based infrastructure in AWS Gov Cloud (US) and Google Cloud using Terraform/Terragrunt and Git Ops pipelines
- Own production reliability for the U.S. government cloud environment including monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, incident response, and post-incident improvement
- Run and maintain platform supporting services such as observability (Prometheus, Grafana), logging, secrets management, messaging, and CI/CD tooling on Kubernetes
- Implement security hardening and compliance requirements for federal environments (e.g., FedRAMP) in collaboration with security and compliance teams
- Participate in on-call rotation for the environments you operate
- 10+ years of SRE, Dev Ops, or infrastructure engineering experience including operating production Kubernetes
- Strong Infrastructure-as-Code skills with Terraform and experience with Git Ops-driven deployment workflows
- Solid Linux, networking, and TLS fundamentals
- Experience with observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, or similar, and log pipelines
- Scripting or programming proficiency in Go, Python, or Bash
- U.S. citizenship and residency in the United States due to federal government cloud access requirements
- Terragrunt experience
- Experience with federal compliance requirements and FedRAMP
- Experience as a founding engineer building new platform environments
Annual base salary USD $150,000–$205,000. Benefits include health insurance, life and disability insurance, professional development funds, Flexible Paid Time Off (FPTO), 401(k), paid holidays (25 days annual leave plus holidays), and parental leave.
