SUMMARYMortenson is seeking a seasoned Project Manager II to provide overall leadership and direction for construction projects, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, timeliness, and financial performance. This role requires a proactive, adaptable leader who can mentor teams, manage complex projects, and build strong client relationships through excellent service and communication.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Lead project execution from design through completion, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and budget
- Prepare proposals, support pursuit presentations, and participate in contract negotiations
- Develop and maintain accurate project financials, including projections, billing, and cost control
- Allocate project estimates into financial systems and manage cost codes and invoicing
- Oversee subcontractor and supplier selection, contract buyouts, and billing
- Manage and mentor Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers, including performance feedback and development
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and on-site representatives, resolving concerns and fostering long-term relationships
- Manage change orders, ensuring timely submission and approval
- Ensure compliance with Mortenson’s safety, quality, and risk management standards
- Promote an inclusive work environment and uphold Mortenson’s values and ethical standards
- Provide leadership that supports team collaboration, accountability, and high performance
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Electrical, or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 7 years of construction management experience on large-scale projects ($20M+)
- Demonstrated success managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders
- Strong financial acumen and experience with project budgeting and forecasting
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software
- Knowledge of construction law, business practices, and contract management
- Excellent communication, leadership, and customer service skills
- Ability to travel overnight up to 100%
- Valid driver’s license

Base pay range: $128,300 - $192,500 (higher for Denver, CO; Chicago, IL – 5%; Seattle, WA; Portland, OR – 10%; Washington, D.C. – 12.5%). This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
