Automomously runs and manages the material lab. This includes understanding how to operate, repair, and analyze the results from tests on the following pieces of equipment and processes: scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray microscopy, optical microscopy, hardness tester, precision scales, rough saw, precis ions saw, dye penetrant, potting, polishing, chemical etching, and tensile testing. Must be able to communicate effectively with outside groups and management to set timelines, priorities, expectations, and provide clear and thorough results.

Must understand ISO and ASTM material testing standards. Must have a patient, methodical, and meticulous work ethic when preparing samples, analyzing results, operating and repairing machines, and using corrosive chemicals.

Proficient in utilizing business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired

• B.S. degree in Material Science or other relevant scientific degree
• 4 years of related experience

Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation.

• Medium work that will frequently require employee to lift/move up to 30 lbs.
• Above-average agility and dexterity with the ability to hold, grasp and manipulate small parts and use hand and power tools occasionally.
• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and handle physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, walking, bending, crouching, stretching, reaching, repetitive motion, or similar activities.
• Work environments includes: exposure to chemicals, electrical current, proximity to moving mechanical parts, repetitive hand motion, open flame, fumes.
