Under the direction of the Shift Manager and based on the area’s top losses and key challenges, the Production Lead creates and executes plans to accelerate building people capability. They train, coach, and mentor operators to deliver the daily production plan and the 90‑day plan. The Production Lead is an integral member of the production team on each shift, a flexible resource, and steps into Shift Manager responsibilities when needed.
- Provide Leadership on your shift: Oversee performance and safety of assigned personnel; coach, train, and motivate a well‑trained team.
- Maintain Quality and Safety Standards: Ensure all quality standards are met through audits and visual inspections; implement changes and corrections as needed.
- Optimize Production Efficiency: Plan and coordinate labor, materials, and production schedules to optimize line efficiencies and reduce costs; drive loss elimination of raw ingredients, packaging material, and finished goods; use the ERP system for inventory and production tracking.
- Promote Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement: Utilize Lean techniques to maintain a clean workspace, drive productivity, and support corporate initiatives; conduct daily meetings to review performance and set goals.
- Support your Team: May relieve operators as needed within assigned production areas.
- Supervisory Experience in a Manufacturing Environment: Managing and leading teams, overseeing performance, providing coaching and feedback, and driving a positive work culture.
- Knowledge of Quality and Safety Standards: Understanding of GMP, OSHA guidelines, and other safety protocols; ensuring product quality standards and conducting audits.
- Mechanical Aptitude and Troubleshooting
Skills:
Identify, troubleshoot, and address mechanical issues; experience with dismantling, repairing, and maintaining equipment. - Experience with Production Planning and Scheduling: Plan and manage labor, materials, and production schedules efficiently; minimize waste and optimize line efficiency.
- Proficiency with ERP Systems and Inventory Management: Use ERP for inventory management, lot tracking, and monitoring work orders.
- Strong Problem‑Solving and Communication
Skills:
Communicate effectively with team members and other departments; resolve issues quickly and provide clear instructions; conduct daily meetings and present KPIs.
