The Molding Maintenance Technician is required to diagnose and repair Molding Presses and all ancillary equipment. In addition they must be able to communicate effectively with their customer, Production, and all support groups. Finally they are required to accurately document the work performed which is crucial and required in achieving World Class Maintenance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Support preventive maintenance and daily repair of injection molding presses, and auxiliary equipment
- Trouble shoot and Diagnose, replace or repair parts, detect and replace defective control modules, test and make adjustments.
- Participate with set up reduction improvements of specific injection molding presses, molds and auxiliary equipment (conveyors, dryers, thermolators, etc.) through Kaizen improvement activities
- Troubleshoot pneumatic, mechanical, hydraulic and electronic and/or combined systems on Injection Molding Machines and support equipment.
- Must understand plastic processing and be able to assist Process Techs and Engineering Techs with machine problems.
- Ability to assemble/disassemble and convert/upgrade Injection Molding Machines and support equipment as required for repairs and installation.
- Able to work with machine venders to size and quote correct replacement parts for machinery
- Maintain spare parts inventory for injection molding equipment and auxiliary equipment
- Maintain proper records regarding machine maintenance (process history, etc.) using the CMMS system
- Must understand all tools and devices associated with maintaining Injection Molding machinery.
- Create repair activities that supports Standardized Work principles
- Participate in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) in molding
- Maintain 5S standards
- Support team cohesiveness
- Work with other support groups such as Engineering, Planning and Tool and Die
- Maintain satisfactory attendance record
- Assure safe work practices to include proper use and wear of personal protective equipment (safety glasses, etc.)
- Must be able to lift 50lbs, kneel, crouch and crawl, must able to work standing, sitting or lying down.
- Other assigned duties as necessary
Skills & Qualifications
- Proven capability of troubleshooting pneumatic, mechanical, hydraulic and electronic systems.
- Basic understanding of electrical circuits
- Ability to read and comprehend basic pneumatic, mechanical, hydraulic and electrical/electronic schematics.
- Develop kaizen understanding
- Understand TPM concepts
- Personal computer skills:
Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word and Outlook - Good team working skills
- Good time management
- Good attitude
- Must be 18 years of age
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Certification or ASSOC degree in electronics
- Work is performed in a clean room environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit stand or kneel for long periods of time.
- Technician is required to use computer or touch screen to enter work order data
- Must be able to occasionally move and lift objects of up to 50 lbs
- Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time
