SUMMARY

The primary role of the Maintenance Mechanic is to provide competent & effective Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance support to the Plant and Facility operations in a safe manner. The position will require a flexible schedule focusing on preventive maintenance and timely repairs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Installed, and/or troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment such as assembly, conveyors, forming, mixing (oven operations is a plus).
  • Follow work instructions and OSHA safety rules, including the use of all PPE and other safety equipment in an industrial environment.
  • Diagnose problems, replace and repair parts, detect and replace defective items, test and make final adjustments for high‑speed production equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair all electrical functions.
  • Prioritize and triage in a fast‑paced work environment.
  • Maintain equipment in accordance with diagrams and manufacturer specifications while following preventive maintenance work orders and scheduled PM’s.
  • Generate work orders and parts requests.
  • Use machine shop and related machines as required to repair parts or fabricate modifications.
  • Complete work orders, PMs and the documentation for that work.
  • Use mechanical and pneumatic processes including cylinders, glue machines, date coders.
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, and other appropriate equipment.
  • Maintain current GMP, safety, food safety, & technical knowledge by actively participating in training.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2+ years of experience working in the food manufacturing industry.
  • 4 years of experience working as a maintenance mechanic.
  • PLC experience is a plus.
  • Work rotation 12‑hour shift including weekends and some overtime.
  • Follow manufacturing specifications and schematics.
  • Knowledge of food‑grade aluminum and stainless‑steel welding techniques.
  • Complete knowledge of fabrication techniques.
  • Electrical knowledge and packing machinery experience a plus.
  • Full complement of hand and power tools to support an industrial manufacturing plant.
  • Multitask, prioritize items and be self‑motivated.
  • Knowledge of all tools required for industrial maintenance, including broach, mill and lathe.
  • Communicate and understand safety issues, including reading the information on safety equipment and relaying relevant information to coworkers.
  • Basic knowledge of control power and main power.
  • Identify lubricants and use in chain lube to high‑performance synthetic lube.
  • Welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Acetylene).
  • Understand pneumatic and water systems.
  • Soldering techniques.
  • Read electrical schematics.
  • Identify appropriate motor frame, power load, and amp draw.
  • Professional electrical tools, including voltmeter and amp meter.
EDUCATION

A high school diploma or its equivalent is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Read and interpret quality documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently sit; occasionally stand, walk, use hands, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50‑75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, energized equipment, and variable noise levels.
