Systems Engineer
Torus Salt Lake City, Utah, United States
About this position About TorusTorus is headquartered in Utah and is expanding manufacturing at our 545,000-square-foot facility in Salt Lake City called Giga One. We are the world’s first mesh energy infrastructure, uniting communities through resilient, sustainable, and intelligent power. We design, engineer, manufacture, install, and support our systems end-to-end, standing behind them throughout their lifecycle. Torus systems help reduce costs, lower emissions, and protect facilities from outages, while strengthening the security and reliability of the broader utility grid.
Torus is committed to American manufacturing, engineering excellence, and building energy systems that last.
Torus has raised over $267 million from investors like Magnetar, Mercado, ICONIQ and Origin Ventures. The investments are helping to accelerate deployment of modular power plants across utilities, data centers, and industrial sectors. This investor confidence reflects the strength of our team, technology as well as the scale of the problem we are solving.
At Torus, you will be part of something larger than a single product or technology. Your work will help build energy infrastructure that supports and strengthens our electrical grid, critical systems, industry, and communities for decades to come. We value accountability, collaboration, and clear thinking. We are looking for people who want to solve hard problems and build things that matter.
Aboutthe Role
We are seeking an experienced, mission-driven Network Operator to join Torus Overwatch. As a member of Torus Overwatch Command, you help protect the system visibility, reliability, and uptime our customers depend on. You investigate alerts, execute response procedures, coordinate with Grid Operators to maintain and restore service, and partner with field service to resolve issues requiring on-site support. This role requires disciplined execution, clear communication, and sound judgment to recognize when an issue needs escalation beyond documented procedures.
As our systems evolve, you help refine the playbooks and strengthen the practices that keep our operations reliable.
You keep the fleet online. You know that every system Torus operates depends on the network to be seen, controlled, and kept safe, so you treat uptime as a safety function, not a convenience. You're calm when alarms stack up, and you decide quickly what matters most: safety first, then availability, then performance. You catch degradation before it becomes an outage, you never make a change that hasn't been approved, and you elevate with the evidence the next tier needs.
You hold your shift to a high bar for accuracy and documentation, and you make the people around you better at protecting the systems we all depend on.
- Execute network and infrastructure alert responses within documented procedures across our sites, building toward independent diagnosis.
- Perform system and alert analysis across network fabric and connected infrastructure (switches, CRAC and chiller loops, ATS, site monitoring sensors).
- Coordinate with Grid Operators on uptime, and field service for hands‑on‑site fixes.
- Partner with engineering teams to build and follow runbooks during incidents, and elevate per established playbooks when something falls outside documented procedure.
- Participate in on‑call rotations with senior support.
- Monitor system health through existing dashboards, flag anomalies, and keep tickets and logs complete and current.
- Manage your own task list and meet assigned response windows.
- Communicate alert status clearly at every handoff.
- Help build and refine the playbooks and procedures you work from as our systems…
