Join our team as we serve our veterans at the Salt Lake Veterans Nursing Home.
Each Monday from 1:30-5pm, we take our residents out to get some leisure time in outside the home and do a little shopping a volunteer, you will be paired up with one of our awesome veterans. You will assist that veteran in finding the items he/she would like to purchase, pushing their wheelchair/cart, helping them check out as needed, and keeping them company during their excursion.
As a special treat, after every shopping trip we head on over the McDonald's and buy all of our residents and volunteers an ice cream to enjoy as they socialize and get to know the residents better. This opportunity will be a weekly commitment for a min. of 4 months from 1:00pm-4pm.

Volunteers assist the Recreation Department in serving the 81 elderly veterans that live at the Salt Lake Veterans Nursing Home. Volunteers are a vital part of our recreation program. Without them, we would not be able to have the high caliber activities that we currently have. Activities require a lot of one-on-one attention that 1 staff member can not adequately provide.
Volunteers decrease the ratio gap and ensure that not only are more residents getting to come to and on activities, but they are also able to fully engage in the activities because they have a volunteer who can assist them. Having more assistance from volunteers means that the activities can be more involved and the residents will get more out of it.
Volunteers are also vital in creating friendships and connections with our residents. UPDATE 8/28/2020 - NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING VOLUNTEERS.
