** THIS POSITION IS A SERVICE MEMBER ROLE EMPLOYED BY THE FEDERAL AMERICORPS PROGRAM.
** This position is not an employee of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and is not eligible for IRC benefits. Service members who accept a role for placement at the IRC are eligible to apply for an IRC staff role once the service term is complete. This position will complete 900 hours of service within 12 months (average 17-18 hours per week) while receiving a living stipend via the federal Ameri Corps program.

The total living stipend received over 12 months is $15,300 yearly via biweekly payments of $586.45. Upon completion of the 900 hours of service, the member will be eligible to receive an Education Award of $3,697.50. The candidate will also gain access to myriad professional training & development in addition to networking and career exploration opportunities.

**** IRC Background:
** Founded in 1933, the IRC is a leading nonsectarian, voluntary organization providing relief, protection and resettlement services for refugees and victims of oppression or throughout the U.S. Historically IRC resettles approximately 10,000 refugees per year and provides numerous program services to assist the refugee from their arrival through citizenship. In Utah, the IRC opened its doors 1994 and has since grown to serve approximately 2,000 refugees annually through nearly 20 different programs.
** About the YALL Program:
** Started in 2021, YALL stands for Youth, Agriculture, Leadership and Learning. It is a New Roots program at the IRC focused on supporting and educating refugee and new American youth ages 13-18 on topics related to food justice, agriculture, leadership, and more. Learn more on our website:
** Scope of Position:
** The Youth Agriculture Ameri Corps will play a central role in the successful implementation of youth programming. They will assist in the planning and teaching of youth activities, serve as a mentor, and help in the land management of New Roots community gardens and teaching spaces.

* Key Responsibilities:

*** Youth Agriculture Program - 70%
** Coordinate with the YALL team to deliver educational workshops and facilitate activities in agriculture, fieldwork, team building, leadership skills, food justice, community service and other program activities.
* Assist in running a youth led CSA program, including overseeing outreach, harvests, packaging, delivery, and customer relations.
* Assist in maintaining youth gardens, including crop planning, planting, harvesting, and upkeep.
* Act as a mentor to a diverse group of youth in the YALL cohort and provide support in their personal development.
* Participate in YALL program meetings and development activities, including weekly check-ins.
* Regularly communicate with YALL participants to coordinate participation in activities.
* Land Management – 20%
** Assist New Roots team in maintaining garden and farm sites including: cultivation, weed and invasive species mitigation, infrastructure projects, and irrigation systems.
