Job SummaryThe Intensive Outpatient Clinic (IOC) seeks a qualified Nurse Practitioner to deliver comprehensive, patient‑centered care to a Medicaid population with complex medical and psychosocial needs. Working as part of an interdisciplinary team, the NP provides primary and specialty medical services, including ambulatory office visits, telehealth visits, care coordination, and medication management.
Responsibilities- Takes complex medical histories on patients referred for consultation by academic and community physicians.
- Performs physical examinations.
- Orders laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostic procedures.
- May perform bone marrow aspirations, skin biopsies, lumbar punctures, intrathecal chemotherapy, and bone marrow harvests.
- Monitors and adjusts immunosuppressive medications.
- Orders and supervises the administration of blood products.
- Reaches tentative diagnoses of medical, surgical, and other conditions.
- Develops treatment plans with attending physician to provide optimal patient medical management.
- Participates in continuing medical education, specialty meetings, and conferences.
- Assists in data collection for research projects.
- Orders consultations and interacts with other specialty teams.
- Participates in special projects and committee functions.
- Collaborates on interdisciplinary team to provide sound clinical recommendations that support each patient’s psychosocial goals.
- Delivers high‑quality, exceptional care aligned with IOC policies and University of Utah standards.
Oversees and supervises Nurse Practitioners, interns, and other learners within their area(s) of assignment.
Minimum Qualifications- Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.
- Certification in ACLS, BLS, NRP, or ATLS (may be required by department or privileging criteria).
- Utah State prescriptive privileges.
- Master’s degree in Nursing or equivalency; national certification required.
- UHPPM 1‑56 credentialing at hire.
- Immunization per CDC standards; exemptions only for documented medical or religious reasons.
