PS Nurse Practitioner – Huntsman Acute Care Clinic

This position provides primary care and treatment to a group of patients in a clinic or hospital unit. The role may require accessing and administering medications within scope of practice and in accordance with State law.

• Assesses the physical condition of patients by performing physical examinations and obtaining medical histories.
• Formulates the medical plan and prognosis based on the patient's condition.
• Consults with physicians regarding patient health care plans and treatment.
• Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient clinical problems and health care needs.
• Performs selected invasive procedures for therapeutic and/or diagnostic reasons within scope of validated competence.
• Initiates and/or recommends medical drug therapies or other forms of related therapeutic treatment and procedures in accordance with approved protocols/policy.
• Complies with medical records policies regarding complete and accurate documentation of patient care; initiates and maintains required records and legal documents.
• Participates in quality improvement activities.
• Counsels patients, families, and significant others about health and illness, and promotes health maintenance.
• Evaluates, plans, implements, and re-evaluates the care of individuals requiring emergency measures.

• Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
• Demonstrated clinical competence and in-depth knowledge of specialty area.
• Demonstrated leadership, teaching, research, and communication skills.
• Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served.

• Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.

• Certification in ACLS, BLS, NRP, or ATLS.
• Utah State prescriptive privileges.
• Master’s degree in Nursing or equivalent licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
• National Certification from a nationally accredited examination.
• Experience with credentialing and privileging processes at hire.
