PS Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary

This is a temporary position expected to last six months, located on the inpatient unit of the Neilsen Rehabilitation Hospital. The role assists physicians with the inpatient service, coordinating all patient care responsibilities with the supervising physician.

• Be a key team member with physiatrists, residents, consult physicians, and nursing staff.
• Assess the physical condition of neurologic patients (stroke, traumatic brain, and spinal cord injured) by performing oral and physical examinations.
• Work in an interdisciplinary team environment with physicians and other team members (nursing and therapists) by developing daily treatment plans based on patient status.
• Order and evaluate diagnostic tests, with the assistance of attending physicians, to identify and assess the patient's clinical condition and related health care needs.
• Initiate and/or recommend therapeutic treatment and procedures in accordance with approved protocols/policy.
• Complete medical records and accurate documentation of patient care.
• Work with hospital resources (social workers, discharge planner, etc.) in counseling patients, families, and significant others about the health care continuum options upon discharge from the Rehab Unit.

• Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
• Demonstrated clinical competence and in-depth knowledge of specialty area.
• Demonstrated leadership, teaching, research, and communication skills.
• Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served.

• Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.

• Certification in ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.
• Utah State prescriptive privileges.

Immunization according to CDC standards and hospital policy is required unless a documented medical contraindication or religious belief exemption applies.

Full Time: 7 am–3 pm M‑F or based on attending physician schedule. Pay: commensurate with experience.
