Job Overview

The QA/QC Project Manager is responsible for ensuring all construction activities on the data center project meet quality standards, industry codes, client specifications, and commissioning requirements. This role oversees the full project lifecycle from design review through turnover, coordinating with construction teams, subcontractors, commissioning agents, and stakeholders to ensure operational readiness and repeatable quality across all systems.

Key Responsibilities Quality Assurance (QA)
  • Develop and maintain the Project Quality Plan (PQP), inspection test plans (ITPs), and checklists specific to data center construction.
  • Conduct design and constructability reviews, focusing on MEP, electrical, and critical power systems, structured cabling, and building envelope.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., Uptime Institute, NFPA, IEEE, ASHRAE, NEC).
  • Lead quality-related onboarding and training for project teams and subcontractors.
  • Implement continuous improvement processes, lessons learned, and root cause analysis.
Quality Control (QC)
  • Manage the QA/QC team performing field inspections for civil, structural, architectural, electrical, mechanical, and low-voltage systems.
  • Oversee inspection and test activities, including FAT, SAT, IST, equipment startup, and commissioning documentation.
  • Conduct routine site audits to verify installation quality, code compliance, and adherence to approved plans.
  • Track, log, and close Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs), punch list items, and corrective actions.
  • Validate all test results and ensure as-built documentation is accurate and delivered on time.
  • Coordinate closely with the Cx team to support level 1–5 commissioning.
  • Ensure all QA/QC documentation is aligned with turnover requirements and the Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR).
  • Validate system readiness for power‑on, mechanical startup, and integrated systems testing.
Leadership & Coordination
  • Lead weekly QA/QC meetings with the GC, trades, owner reps, and third‑party inspectors.
  • Interface with vendors for major equipment such as UPS, switch gear, generators, chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, and BMS/EPMS systems.
  • Provide regular reporting to project management on quality metrics, risk items, and progress.
  • Support schedule and budget management by identifying quality risks early.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • 5–10+ years of QA/QC experience in mission-critical or data center construction.
  • Strong knowledge of critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure (UPS, MV/LV distribution, cooling systems, generators).
  • Experience with commissioning processes, Red‑Line markups, and turnover documentation.
  • Familiarity with BIM, Bluebeam, Procore, or similar project management tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience with hyperscale or colocation data center clients.
  • Certified Quality Manager or Inspector (e.g., ASQ, ACI, ICC, NEBB, ASHRAE certifications).
  • Experience with advanced testing protocols (infrared scanning, torque verification, pressure testing, cable testing).
  • Understanding of lean construction and continuous improvement methodologies.
