Job Summary: Perform laboratory tests, experiments, and analyses. Prepare and weigh samples for testing and analysis. Conduct tests, assays, and other protocols under the direction of a laboratory services manager, physician, nurse, or scientist. Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs). Ensure all laboratory equipment and work areas are clean, sterile, and in proper working order. May be responsible for calibration of instruments.
This is a time‑limited, temporary position with an anticipated term of employment of nine months or less.
Perform laboratory tests, experiments, and analyses. Prepare and weigh samples for testing and analysis. Conduct tests, assays, and other protocols under the direction of a laboratory services manager, physician, nurse, or scientist. Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs). Ensure all laboratory equipment and work areas are clean, sterile, and in proper working order. May be responsible for calibration of instruments.
- Design, execute, and troubleshoot laboratory experiments focused on protein expression and signaling pathways, including Western blotting, proteomics workflows, and related biochemical assays.
- Perform transcript‑level expression analyses (e.g., quantitative PCR, RNA sequencing), and assist with sample preparation, data quality control, and basic data interpretation.
- Maintain and culture mammalian cell lines, including routine passaging, cryopreservation, viability assessment, and optimization of experimental conditions.
- Conduct transfection and genetic manipulation in cell and mouse models (e.g., plasmid transfection, viral transduction or other genetic engineering approaches) to support mechanistic studies.
- Perform mouse handling and in vivo procedures, including restraint, tail‑vein injections, tissue collection, and postoperative monitoring in accordance with IACUC‑approved protocols.
- Assist with mouse phenotyping and in vivo experimental studies, including cohort setup, treatment administration, behavioral or physiological assessments, tissue harvest, and accurate recordkeeping.
- Coordinate and manage assigned research projects from experimental planning through data collection, organization, and contribution to figures, presentations, and manuscripts for publication.
- Ensure compliance with all institutional, departmental, and regulatory requirements for animal care, biosafety, and laboratory safety; participate in relevant trainings as required.
- Contribute to a collaborative research environment by communicating results to the principal investigator and research team, participating in lab meetings, and assisting in training of students or other staff as needed.
Senior‑level support role. Completes assignments with little supervision. May assist less‑experienced team members.

Equivalency Statement: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Laboratory Technician, III: Requires 3+ years of related experience.
Preferences- Advanced Biological Science Degree (e.g., an M.S. or above).
- Minimal training is required due to temporary nature of the position.
