Grant/Contract Officer II – Dermatology

Job SummaryIndependently and with some basic oversight, completes various routine pre‑award and post‑award administration of research grants and/or contracts. This position is evenly split with effort for both pre‑award and post‑award activities.
Responsibilities- Proficient with all the duties and responsibilities of a GCO I.
- Independently completes basic proposals for a variety of sponsors and basic award administration, including award set‑up, modification, and maintenance for the department's most common sponsors. With basic oversight from a supervisor, completes complex proposal preparation (e.g., multi‑project proposals, institutional training grants, contract proposals) and complex award administration for the same.
- Award review/tracking: completes project‑related A/P and A/R activities for complex contracts and reviews budget categories for reporting activities.
- Demonstrates familiarity and expanded knowledge of various sponsor policies required for proposal submission, appropriately utilizing University, department, and most common sponsor systems and processes for proposal preparation, submission, and tracking.
- Problem resolution: addresses varied problems, generally with precedent, requiring analysis, interpretation, innovation, and creativity.
- Possesses specialized skills or is multi‑skilled through job‑related training and on‑the‑job experience.

Work EnvironmentOffice environment. Nearly continuously: requires sitting, hearing, listening, talking; often: repetitive hand motion (e.g., typing), walking; seldom: bending, reaching overhead.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree or 8 years of relevant work experience (or equivalency; one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
Immunization:
This position is patient‑sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. All patient‑sensitive employees are required to be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy, with limited exemptions allowed for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.

Preferred Qualifications- Demonstrated strength in negotiating budgets for industry‑sponsored projects.
- Proficiency with University of Utah administrative systems, including Management Reports, ePR, UShop eProposal, and eAward.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with investigators and departmental staff on grant and contract administration.
- Skilled in data management, with advanced proficiency in Excel and related analytical tools.
- Experience with OnCore preferred.
