This opportunity is a scientist position in Dr. Samuel Cheshier’s lab at Huntsman Cancer Institute that includes the organization, direction, and implementation of experiments, as well as lab management. You will conduct a wide range of experiments using some of the most advanced techniques available. We work in the field of macrophage immune therapy, targeted inhibition development, and precision medicine against pediatric and adult brain tumors.
Types of procedures performed include culturing mouse and human brain tumor cells and isolating human tumor and immune cells for both in vivo and in vitro experiments. A core responsibility will be the establishment and maintenance of mouse models of brain tumors and the conduct of therapeutic experiments on these mice using targeted inhibitors, immune therapies, and standard therapies such as irradiation.
Thus, significant experience working with mice is a critical requirement for this position. Our lab has taken our therapies into clinical trials, and your work here will lead to future trials involving adult and pediatric brain tumor patients. Flow cytometry, lentil-virus work, expression construct production, and DNA sequence and RNA expression analysis are also key components of our research.
